Hearing Aid Batteries

Hearing aids get their power from batteries. Your hearing aids use either disposable batteries that you change regularly or rechargeable batteries that must be recharged regularly.

During your hearing aid fitting appointment, the hearing aid specialist at Enhanced Hearing Center shows you how to change or recharge your batteries. The amount of battery life you can expect depends on the size of the battery, the number of features you use and the amount of time you wear your hearing aids each day.

No matter what type of battery your hearing aid needs, we have you covered.

Types of hearing aid batteries

At Enhanced Hearing Center, we consider any vision or dexterity issues you may have when recommending a hearing aid for you. For some people, handling small hearing aid batteries is a challenge. Hearing aids with rechargeable batteries are perfect in these instances. They are also a great option for those who travel frequently and don’t like the hassle of maintaining a supply of spare batteries.

  • Disposable hearing aid batteries use zinc ion technology to create an electrical charge. The battery contains zinc that generates electricity when it encounters oxygen in the air. These batteries are sealed with a small strip of tape that must be removed before the battery is inserted. The smaller the battery, the shorter the battery life.
  • Rechargeable hearing aid batteries generally rely on lithium-ion technology. They power hearing aids the same way rechargeable batteries power smartphones and tablets. Some batteries provide enough power for one day, and others can go several days before recharging. If your hearing aids have an app, it will monitor your battery level. Do not charge your hearing aid unless the battery level is under 70%.
